Keep Calm Single Mom
Transitioning from a wife to a single mom sure wasn’t easy. Certainly, it was never something I expected or planned for. But the way God built me and with the strength He gave me, no unusual or unexpected circumstance had an effect on the responsibility I was given as a mom.
“First came courage, then came strength.”
When I first moved to Minnesota in 2012, I had absolutely no idea what would become of me, my children and our future. At the time, I felt everything in my life was a whirlwind; I didn’t know what to begin with, how to start, or who could help. I was divorced in 2010, instantly a single mom of 4 children, and suddenly finding myself overwhelmed. BUT, I knew for certain that God was, and continues to be in control!
“Through the midst of it all, I realized I was actually being prepared for greater things.”
This picture was taken just a couple of months after moving to Minnesota. My sister took us to Minnehaha Falls. After seeing this picture of me and my son, Jay, I stared at the picture for such a long time. I saw a deeper meaning that encouraged me. Notice the water behind us? What I saw was rough waters but we were relaxed… calm. What I wrote on the picture above is what I journaled that very night:
“Stop all the unnecessary worrying about failing your kids as a single mom. God gave you these precious angels because YOU, through HIS strength, are well equipped to handle each obstacle that will arise. You are the perfect person to navigate the sometimes murky waters at parenting for your child. You have been divinely appointed to impart wisdom in their lives, teach them and watch them grow into the lovely young woman or man they will one day become.”
Never allow your circumstances to define you.
God is Good! He is Faithful! He is Everything!
