Let Me Encourage You, Sis… In the Waiting, Trust in the Lord.

Trust in the Lord, always.

Our timing will always be of urgency. Of a “right-now” need. The “I just can’t take it anymore” feeling. When in despair and you can’t seem to find the strength to get up. When all you want to do is either get through the day un-noticed or find every way possible to not notice the day.

You’re in the waiting. You know God is working things out… for your good…. for His glory. Wait on Him. Keep silent. Be still. Wait. On. Him.

In Psalm 37, you see David in his waiting. Here’s my best to explain to you sis…

You know exactly who you are. You know the heart inside of you and you just can’t seem to understand why this is happening. Perhaps you’ve been looking to the left or to the right of you. Seeing those who lie, cheat, scheme, and even manipulate their way through life and yet are winning. At least from your perspective, that’s just what it looks like. Don’t let it affect you. Don’t let it get to your head. Those in the wrong won’t enjoy much in the end.

As for you, trust in God. Trust in Him through your authenticity. In your day-to-day, walk it out in faith. In courage. In spirit. In spite of what’s in front of you, keep living in truth. In the morning, praise Him. Thank him. Bask in His AWEsomeness. Breathe-in His gift. Breathe-out in praise. Stay in that moment. God knows. God sees. He will deliver you.

Don’t try to figure it out, sis! God may have given us a brain but we’ll never outsmart Him. Give it to God, go about your business and don’t you dare deviate from the plan. Trust Him. And another thing… girl get some sleep!!! He’s a workaholic so you don’t have to be one. He got this.

Now this isn’t a “one-and-done” type of deal, girl. It’s a way of life. You will probably find yourself going through the motions again. Wondering what else you have to do to see movement. Seeing yet another person sharing their successes and finding yourself so close to being judgy. Don’t let it phase you. Don’t let those sparks trigger what can quickly turn into an explosion. Don’t take the bait. Remember, God sees it all. He knows it all. He handles all, accordingly.

Stay humble. And if you’re not sure what that means… It’s not about you. Never was about you. Not ever gonna be about you.

When you know what you know about the God you serve, who knew you before you were born, who appointed you, who called you, who set you apart, who gives the angels charge concerning you, who is with you, who strengthens you, and most of all who LOVES you, nothing else matters!

God’s hand is always on you. Take a moment to acknowledge that. Be thankful that trip of a stumble wasn’t a fatal fall. Be grateful that short yawn didn’t lead to lasting hunger pains. Know your blessings were already established in the Lord, not in what you hold today.

So in your waiting, wait in His presence, wait in His safety, and wait in His word. It ain’t gonna be easy, but it will be worth it.

Drop an encouraging word below. Share your story. Help another sista out. Most importantly, share this in love.

Psalm 37 – A Psalm of David.

Security of Those Who Trust in the Lord, and Insecurity of the Wicked.

1 Do not get upset because of evildoers,
Do not be envious of wrongdoers.
2 For they will wither quickly like the grass,
And decay like the green plants.

3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
6 He will bring out your righteousness as the light,
And your judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;

Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way,
Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.
8 Cease from anger and abandon wrath;
Do not get upset; it leads only to evildoing.
9 For evildoers will be eliminated,
But those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.
10 Yet a little while and the wicked person will be no more;
And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there.

11 But the humble will inherit the land
And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.

12 The wicked plots against the righteous,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow
To take down the afflicted and the needy,
To kill off those who are upright in conduct.
15 Their sword will enter their own heart,
And their bows will be broken.

16 Better is the little of the righteous
Than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked will be broken,
But the Lord sustains the righteous.

18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
And their inheritance will be forever.
19 They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,
And in the days of famine they will have plenty.

20 But the wicked will perish;
And the enemies of the Lord will be like the glory of the pastures,
They vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
21 The wicked borrows and does not pay back,
But the righteous is gracious and gives.
22 For those blessed by Him will inherit the land,
But those cursed by Him will be eliminated.

23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
24 When he falls, he will not be hurled down,
Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.
25 I have been young and now I am old,
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
Or his descendants begging for bread.
26 All day long he is gracious and lends,
And his descendants are a blessing.

27 Turn from evil and do good,
So that you will dwell forever.
28 For the Lord loves justice
And does not abandon His godly ones;
They are protected forever,
But the descendants of the wicked will be eliminated.
29 The righteous will inherit the land
And dwell in it forever.
30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,
And his tongue speaks justice.
31 The Law of his God is in his heart;
His steps do not slip.
32 The wicked spies upon the righteous
And seeks to kill him.
33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand
Or let him be condemned when he is judged.
34 Wait for the Lord and keep His way,
And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are eliminated, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked, violent person
Spreading himself like a luxuriant tree in its native soil.
36 Then he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
I searched for him, but he could not be found.
37 Observe the blameless person, and look at the upright;
For the person of peace will have a future.
38 But wrongdoers will altogether be destroyed;
The future of the wicked will be eliminated.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in time of trouble.

40 The Lord helps them and rescues them;
He rescues them from the wicked and saves them,
Because they take refuge in Him.

Dreams Of My Own was birthed after going through a season of brokenness, trusting God in leading me to a breakthrough, in order to refine my journey for this season of blessings. I had dreams that I let die during the most vulnerable time of my life and my children were not getting the best of me. After a season of affliction, I turned my pain into my platform. Dreams Of My Own seeks to encourage every woman to live their intentional-self while having faith and dreaming BIG!

    There are areas in which we should exercise common sense. Areas in which the Lord trust we will rationally decide. But concerning other areas, in which He has clearly laid a path, we just need to obey and trust Him. Even though we feel we could rationalize. We should not lean on our own understanding.

    This has been an encouraging post. Thank you!

      Ann, in this walk we sometimes lose sight of what common sense is. I certainly have my hands raised. Thank you so much for the comment. Please feel free to share!

    I really like your article and I completely agree that patience is a very important aspect of faith. If we read the Bible patience is always an important aspect of faithful followers. A perfect example of this is the Israelites while they wandered for 40 years in the wilderness. I think a lot of this was done by the Lord to have a generation that was tough and would follow the Lord’s direction without complaint.

    I don’t think there have ever been more blessed people in the history of mankind (in regard to modern comforts) but just like you said, we want everything now. We are the most blessed people that have ever existed but in many ways the most impatient and unhappy. The advice of “count your blessings” really does apply to me.

      Al. S. I thank you so much for your comment. The wandering of the Israelites have similarities in “the waiting”. They sure did complain and we certainly can learn what NOT to do. Sadly, and I include myself, when the subject focus is on ourself, we tend to take a bit longer realizing those blessings in the moment. Thanks again, and I appreciate your comment.
